Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII preview

January 29, 2008

Final Fantasy VII has been hailed as the best game in the entire Final Fantasy series since its release on the Playstation in 1997. The original game took place in a near future world called Gaia, and was set primarily with science fiction technology. The main character is an elite soldier called Cloud, and the plot line has been called one of the best ever devised. The plot involves Cloud and company fighting a giant corporation that is hell bent on draining Gaia of its life energy. One of the most shocking plot twists in gaming history when villain Sephiroth kills supporting character Aerith. Now, more then a decade after the release of FFVII, Square Enix is obliging the wishes of many fans and releasing a prequel, named Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. The main character is Zack Fair, a 1st Class SOLDIER. Cloud has just joined the SOLDIER unit, and is low in the ranks and relatively unnoticed.

Crisis Core will go a long way to explaining the events of Final Fantasy VII, many of which were shrouded in mystery, including much of Cloud’s origin. Other then that, little is known about the plot. Some confirmed returning characters are Genesis, Angeal, Sephiroth, Tseng, Cloud, Yuffie, Tifa, and Aerith. More details as they follow-this is Kolametal, signing off.
