Must have games of 2008

April 21, 2008

2008 should be a year for gaming. Here are some games  that should be great.

Grand Theft Auto IV: Set in Liberty City, the same locale as Grand Theft Auto III, this game sports realistic graphics and the same  formula that made all the other GTA games fun to play. For PS3 and Xbox 360.

Civilization Revolution:  Civilization Revolution is a version of the popular PC game, only for consoles. The  player picks a  civilization, and it from the Ancient Age to the Information Age and beyond. For Nintendo DS, PS3, and 360.

Madden NFL 2009: Madden’s always fun. Too bad my ‘08 version will be outdated now.

Metal Gear Solid 4: The Metal Gear series was very popular on PS1, and has continued to be very popular on subsequent systems. This one will involve Solid Snake dealing with the effects of advanced premature aging and forced to stop Liquid  Ocelot’s private military corporation from achieving global domination. For PS3

Haze: Hailed as PS3’s “Halo-killer” Haze’s release date is rapidly approaching. An FPS set in the 2040’s and with game play similar to that of the Halo series, this game will either be a major hit or a disappointing  let down. For PS3.

Soulcaliber IV: This series is, in my opinion, a great fighting series that is the best on the market today. Namco knows  how to make games, and this sequel is slated to have great online play. For PS3 and Xbox 360.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: Ever wonder what happened in between the creation of the Empire in Revenge of the Sith and the destruction of the Death Star in A New Hope?  Well, now is your chance to live the action. You play as  Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, who reports directly to Vader himself. For Nintendo DS, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, and Xbox 360.

Gears of War 2: The first game was awesome, and let’s hope the sequel is too. As third person shooters go, this is one of the best out there. For Xbox 360.

Resistance 2: Sequel to the PS3 hit Resistance: Fall of Man. The teaser video for this game is our featured video, check it out. For PS3.

There are a lot of worthy games out there. 2008 should be a great year for gamers.

Top 5 Best Firefox add-ons

April 19, 2008

http://www.lifehack.org/wp-content/files/2007/05/20070520-firefox_logo.jpg

You have Firefox. Now what? Mozilla has a lot of cool add-ons to personalize your Firefox browser, but there are a lot to choose from. Here are some of my favorites:

1. StumbleUpon

This one is great.  You download the Stumble toolbar, click it, and it sends you to a random site based on categories that you have expressed interest in during its installation. I’ve found many great sites, pictures, and videos with this add-on. I highly recommend it.

2. Forecastfox

This addition creates a little toolbar in the bottom right corner of your screen with the current local weather, as well as the weather for the next two days. It also shows rain patterns and gives you severe weather alerts. Its a good thing to have-saves you a lot of time.

3. PDF Download Helper

This one doesn’t get a lot of attention, but one problem I’ve encountered with Firefox is its inability to download PDF files. This changes that. Previously, every time I tried to open a PDF file, my browser crashed.

4. BlueOrganizer

Adding this creates a little widget in the top  of your screen. It allows you to do a shit load of things, including bookmarking sites through it, downloading Youtube videos, renting movies, and sharing things on Facebook and MySpace.

5.  FeedSidebar

Displays all your RSS feeds on a handy little sidebar.  This is good just to have around…not a necessity, but definetely a good thing to have.

88 Minutes Review

April 19, 2008

Image:Eighty eight minutes ver3.jpg

This movie has received some terrible reviews-but let me say that I didn’t think it was bad.  It wasn’t great, and it definetely wasn’t Al Pacino’s best film, but it was entertaining and had some decent twists and backstory. Basically, the plot goes like this: Al Pacino plays Dr. Jack Gramm, a professor at a university in Seattle, and testifies at the trial of John Forrester in the late 1990’s, who is charged with numerous murders. Gramm’s testimony convicts Forrester, who is sentenced to death. Nine years later, on the day Forrester is set to be executed,  Gramm receives a phone call telling him he has eighty-eight minutes to live. Gramm must outsmart whoever is trying to kill him before they succeed in their goal.

I thought the movie was pretty exciting-it did keep me interested. It was far better then Prom Night. I’ve always liked murder-mystery films, and while this one wasn’t the greatest ever made, it was no where near the failure the critics make it out to be.  The acting was good, I thought, and the roles were well cast. As I said before, it is definetely not Pacino’s greatest film-that would have to go to The Godfather, Scarface, or Scent of a Woman-but Pacino hasn’t made a film like this one for a while, and I thought it was worth seeing.

This is Kolametal, signing off.
