Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom today launched a new Youtube channel for the British monarchy; the Royal Channel. The Queen plans to air her Christmas Address for this year on Youtube. 2007 marks the fifty-fifth year of Elizabeth’s reign, and the fiftieth year since she gave her first Christmas address on television. Since then, technology has changed, and Buckingham Palace has kept in step. Last year, the Queen delivered her Christmas message via podcast. Rarely seen footage of the monarchy has already been uploaded to the Royal Channel, including the wedding of the Queen’s parents in 1923, and the Queen’s original Christmas message from 1957.
